On February 23, 2008, I had a conference with the members of the Adirondack chapter of the National Corvette Restorer Society{NCRS}. I explained to the members the importance of having an appraisal on file with themselves and their insurance company. I also displayed some PRI appraisals from some large estates that I had recently performed.
Additionally, I did a demonstration on how I do an appraisal, using a 1968 Corvette convertible owned by John Dergosits, chairman of NCRS. I would like thank the members of NCRS for having me as their guest. It was a most enjoyable experience.
Thank you, Gerald C. Linen

| *CLASSIC CAR APPRAISAL
Bill Schroeder arranged for our chapter’s 2/23/08 tech session with Gerald C. Linen, who has been a Licensed Classic Car Appraiser since 1988. The session was held at John Dergosits’ garage and John’s 68 was utilized for the appraisal process. Gerald is well known in the area and has a very long list of cars that he has thoroughly examined and appraised. He explained why an appraisal should be done to protect your interest and pointed out the advantages of having an appraisal for your classic car. This session was very interesting from an insurance point of view. Having your car appraised by an experienced and licensed classic car appraiser, plus obtaining insurance based on the stated appraised value, will provide you with the documentation to substantiate that value, if needed, should a loss occur. Thanks to Gerald, Bill and John for making this tech session successful. *Thank you adirondackncrs.com for the above |
| | | *On February 23rd we had a tech session at my garage to discuss classic car appraisals. Using my 1968 convertible as an example, Mr. Gerald Linen inspected and appraised my car with the help of the 7 Chapter members who also attended. We also had a very informative discussion on the types of insurance and the benefits of agreed value policies. A few days ago Mr. Linen sent me his report and what I learned was that I did not have sufficient insurance on the car. In fact I was only insured at about 75% of the current value. So, I think everyone should think about the current value of their corvette(s). Before we hit the road this spring, now is the time to update your insurance. I recommend that the best way to determine the value of your corvette would be with an appraisal by Gerry. (John Dergosits) |
